We showcase the intangible by packaging light. Our goal is to inspire, to be a catalyst for reflection and connection, and to create small moments of joy. We celebrate science by turning precision instruments inside out and exposing the optics elements that were never intended to be seen.  We bring forth hidden truths by breaking the white light around you into specific wavelengths, a reminder that we are constantly swimming in an energetic sea of colors. Read more about the different energetic properties of the glass HERE.

Idol Light is a performance of the present.  By wearing Idol Light, you become a walking art installation.  Our pieces effortlessly interact with your surroundings, reminding you of your place within your environment and putting you in the present moment with an act of pure joy.  You can get lost in Idol Light when you need to let go, but you also can call on the power of light for grounding when you need to connect. Different frequencies of light have different energetic properties, read more about this HERE.

DICHROIC SCIENTIFIC OPTICAL GLASS REFUSE???

DICHROIC - Displays multiple colors depending on lighting and viewing angle. This is achieved by coatings targeting specific wavelengths

OPTICAL - Extremely clear and high quality, free of waves or imperfections

SCIENTIFIC - Used in scientific instruments

REFUSE - Discarded, cast off, waste

You have saved this material from entering a landfill!  We source our materials from the waste streams of optical glass manufacturers – can you believe it?!  These prisms are found throughout the scientific community in fields like astronomy, engineering, and laser optics.  They are in everyday objects like cameras and magnifying glasses, as well as far away places like spacecraft, satellites, and even the Moon and Mars!  The tolerances for production are very high because the tools they go in are very precise.  Many things can go “wrong” that render the glass unusable.  That’s where we come in!  We buy waste material from optical glass manufacturers, save it from entering the waste stream, and turn it into a product of higher value.  This upcycling of materials is something we think should be seen MUCH more in terms of what we create and purchase

The materials I choose to work with can change colors, create optical illusions, hold light like a diamond, or shoot it out like a laser beam.  Optical glass often has special and coatings separate white light into specific wavelengths which is what creates the colors you see.
